The East Asia Film Festival in Ireland (EAFFI) returns in 2026 for its 10th edition! This year’s programme features numerous screenings, meetings with emerging directors and producers, and a range of special events. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover fresh, inspiring works.

A celebration of Asian cinema in the heart of Dublin
From March 19 to 22, 2026, the event will spotlight projects and independent filmmakers from Asia (China, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore), offering audiences the opportunity to discover new cinematic perspectives through original works by emerging directors and creators from diverse cultural and social backgrounds across East Asian cinema. The films explore universal themes such as identity, migration, belonging and social transformation, presenting deeply human stories that transcend cultural boundaries.
This 10th edition places a special focus on Hong Kong cinema, featuring three rare classics restored in 4K, a lecture by Professor Chris Berry on the evolution of Hong Kong film, and a selection of short films by director Simon Liu. Blending fiction, documentary and cinematic essays, the festival offers an immersive artistic experience that invites audiences to see the world through new perspectives.

Where does the festival take place?
Screenings are held across the three theatres of the Irish Film Institute, located in the Temple Bar district of Dublin. But the festival doesn’t stop in the capital. A touring programme is also organised in Galway at the Eye Cinema and in Cork at the Triskel Arts Centre, will present two festival films, Ky Nam Inn and The System, on March 24 and 26.

Tickets and practical information
Tickets for screenings are available online via the IFI (Irish Film Institute) website. You can book individual screenings or choose ticket bundles that grant access to multiple screenings, available exclusively to IFI members.
For screenings in Galway, reserve your seats on the Eye Cinema website, and for Cork, book via the Triskel website.
It is recommended to book in advance for the most anticipated films, as some screenings sell out quickly.
Between discoveries and cultural exchanges, powerful films and thought-provoking reflections, the East Asia Film Festival Ireland is an experience not to be missed. An invitation to explore new perspectives and new stories that open us further to the world around us.
See you on March 19 and personally, I’m really excited to watch KY NAM INN!
