Golf and gastronomy come together in spectacular alpine surroundings this summer as the 23rd Golf Festival returns to Kitzbühel from 21 to 28 June 2026.

Set in one of Austria’s best-known mountain resorts, the week-long festival combines championship-level golf with award-winning cuisine, wine experiences and one of the most unusual tournaments in the Alps. Throughout the event, guests can expect a programme that goes far beyond the fairways, with renowned chefs and selected winegrowers helping to create a lively social atmosphere across the festival week.

The standout event of the festival is undoubtedly “Golf the Streif,” previously known as “Streif-Attack,” which takes place on Thursday, 25 June 2026. Rather than playing on a traditional course, participants descend the legendary Hahnenkamm downhill ski run with golf clubs in hand, tackling a dramatic 12-hole course that drops 800 metres from summit to finish.

Widely regarded as one of the world’s most famous ski slopes, the Streif is transformed for the day into a unique alpine golf challenge, with players competing in a four-player scramble format. Around 18 flights begin every 15 minutes from the start hut, making their way down the mountain through a series of spectacular holes and special challenges.

Along the route, players can stop at the historic Seidlalm, known as the birthplace of the Ski World Cup, while competitions including Nearest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Hole in One add to the atmosphere throughout the day. The event concludes with a BBQ and awards ceremony at Rasmushof, where prizes are awarded to standout performances from the tournament.

Beyond the festival itself, Kitzbühel offers visitors classic Austrian alpine scenery combined with a polished resort atmosphere, making it just as appealing for spectators and non-golfers looking for a summer mountain escape.

For travellers planning a trip around the festival, a seven-night stay at Pension Rainhof, arriving on 21 June 2026, is currently priced from £472 per person based on two people sharing a room with breakfast included. Flights and transfers are extra.

With championship golf, mountain landscapes, fine dining and one of Europe’s most unusual sporting experiences all rolled into one week, Kitzbühel’s Golf Festival offers a very different kind of summer holiday in the Alps.
