2026 is bringing in the year of the Horse, which is said to favour creativity, adventure, and trying something new. And what better way to lean into that energy than by picking up a calligraphy brush and crafting your own glowing paper lantern?

Chinese Calligraphy & Paper Lantern Workshop Saturday 28th February 2026

As part of Hart Shoreditch's ongoing series of creative workshops in partnership with local artist and businesses, the hotel invites guests and local visitors to celebrate Lunar New Year with a Chinese calligraphy and paper lantern workshop.

This beginner-friendly workshop invites participants to discover the art of traditional Chinese calligraphy and create a paper lantern, all guided by an expert. This session is perfect for anyone looking to do something fun and creative, as well as learning a traditional art form to celebrate the New Year. The workshop will take place from 12pm to 1pm, finishing in perfect time to enjoy a delicious lunch at the hotel's pan-Asian restaurant UBA. What better way to celebrate Lunar New Year then by indulging in a spectacular array of creative pan-Asian sharing plates, served-up against a backdrop of ornate interiors and a vibrant soundtrack.
